2019 has been, well, a year. I lost my sweet Harry, and then I broke my back and ribs and suffered one hell of a knock to my brain* on the set of an indie film. Frankly, it was a bit sucky. But a new decade looms with the knowledge and immense gratitude that I have an amazing tribe of loved ones who show up when the going gets tough. They hopped on the first plane to me on location in Montana, got me through a mid-flight meltdown and back home to LA, grocery-shopped, chauffeured, sat and chatted, flew in from Hawaii to listen to my fave podcast for 4 days straight, kept a sense of humor about my condition while still validating my feelings (Ben, seriously, this is perhaps your most impressive skill), cooked, hugged (tenderly, of course), raced me back to the ER when meds didn’t agree with me, sent gifts and generally supported me in a way that has opened my eyes to just how wonderfully rich my life is. Through trauma comes resilience, growth and (with the help of my new pal Alfie) an important reminder to live in the moment - it’s all we truly have. To the tagged peeps, I am forever grateful for all you did and your presence in my life. I love you all. Happy New Year!! . . *Fuck horses. Also, I’m ok - still in PT, but full recovery ahead.

Harry’s lost most of his sight and hearing, but he’s a strong-willed little guy and now uses touch to know where we are (which quite possibly makes him even more lovable). We’ve laid rugs of different textures around to try to help him know where he is at home. Any of you dog lovers out there have any other tips for taking care of a sense challenged little pup?
