Happy #OrangeForever Day!!! It’s finally here.⁣ 😂😭😵 ⁣ I’ll never forget the day I auditioned to play Badison. I spent the entire afternoon after the audition sobbing in Bryant Park across the street. My husband consoling me (or at least making every effort to.) You see, I wanted to be on @oitnb since it’s inception and I never thought I’d get the chance. It was one of those “bucket list/pipe dream” kind of things. It’s not often in your career that you actually get the opportunity to be on a groundbreaking show like Orange. One that is pushing every envelope and expanding the fabric of storytelling in such an original and profound way. So when I finally got the chance, I wanted it so bad. I NEEDED IT. And then I thought I bombed the audition. I thought I blew my one and only chance. And I was pretty devastated. Low and behold, by the grace of God, the next day I got the call that I had booked it. I was beside myself. I didn’t know how to process that I would actually get to live this dream of mine. And I was terrified.⁣ ⁣ What I didn’t know and wasn’t prepared for was the actual impact it would have on my life. The people I worked with who became lifelong friends, the content, the connection with the fans, the space to create without abandon- it changed me forever. The electricity on a set saturated with brilliant woman -and quite a few really good men- whose common passion is to create a story of significance is sacred and invincible. ⁣ ⁣ To say I am grateful feels trite, because there are no words. But for what it’s worth- @ijnej, @ttobie, @jen_euston, @lvinnecour and @netflix...Thank You. I am forever in your Orange flavored debt. 🧡🖤🧡

.in honor of @oitnb ‘s final day of shooting (😭😭😭), I wanted to share a pic from my final day putting on Badison’s blues. (C-BLOCK!) As you can see, saying goodbye to her and the @oitnb fam is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. (This is the before pic at the beginning of the day! You shoulda seen me after.) ⁣ ⁣ love her or *hate* her, Badison changed my life and I am forever grateful to her. as I am to the brilliant writers who gave me endless gold to play with; @ijnej who opened up her ingenious, uncompromising, and prolific world to me- and trusted me in it; @lvinnecour who provided us all with the safest of havens and an unexpected friendship I hope to hold on to forever; the tireless crew who gave their lives to ensure the storytelling was executed to its finest, and had open hearts and belly laughter every step of the way...you, my friends, are some of the best I’ve ever worked with; and to my new family/community of actors...brilliant women (and men) with so much to give and everything to offer, with giant hearts and sharp minds and passion that could ignite the darkest hour, to call you all my friends is an honor I will cherish forever.⁣ ⁣ .if this post seems precious, it’s because it is. this show, the experience of working on this show, and the impact this show has made on our industry and filmmaking...is precious.
