My sister Shoshana and I must’ve started working on this lesson in our childhood. When life gives you lemons, give back some oranges. At a time of political turmoil surrounding the impeachment, threats of continued military action abroad, and devastating fires in Australia, it is even more important to care for each other and our communities. I encourage you to reach out to one another, offer support, and activate the change you wish to see in the world. I, for one, could be doing more, and I intend to step it up.

I started meditating a year and half ago, because I was on my phone mindlessly, my attention span was too short, and my patience was tattered. I am no longer on my phone all day long, I have cultivated a lot more patience for things and people I used to find stupid, and I can now pay attention to things for long periods of time. If you are experiencing too much noise, or any self-doubt, I would really recommend giving yourself the gift of downloading a meditation app in the new year. It changed my life, and if I can get down with meditation, you can too.

I loved this nugget in a big way, and I took great pleasure in how many people loved him as much as I did and do.
@chuybravo gave us so much laughter and I’ll never forget the sound of his laughter coming from his office into mine. Or his “business calls” with his “business manager,” or his shoe rack with all his children-sized shoes. I’ll never forget him coming to Christmas with my family one year in the Florida keys, and when my niece who was 5 or 6 at the time—saw him, she ran in the other direction saying she was scared. My sister and I were mortified and were apologizing to Chuy, who told us,”it’s ok, lots of little kids get scared when they see big kids coming their way.” I love you, Chuy!
