Playwright Terrence McNally passed away today due to Covid-19. Terrence gave me my first real shot in the N.Y. theater and I remain thankful. But he was so much more to so many more. He gave voice to the anguish of the gay community in the 1980’s during our last pandemic, and so it is ironic that the next one should take him. He will be missed by many but his work will be remembered for generations.

Today, I escorted Able to his obedience class for the first time. Darah was fulfilling that responsibility solely while I was away, but today was a great and much needed bonding moment. He did so well and has clearly gained confidence since joining our little family. I’m super proud of him and I hope he is proud of me too. Right now he’s enjoying a well deserved nap.

This is Able, everyone. We adopted him on Sunday and we’ve been hard at work getting this bashful Great Dane acclimated. His original name is “Apple” but we discovered that the Danish word for Apple is “Aeble”. So he’s “Able” which we also consider to be a good omen.
