As someone who has a sister with special needs, this was disgusting to read that this administration wants to cut off funding to Special Olympics! What? Of course now Trump says he “didn’t know” about cutting off the funding. But the fact that this administration would target families who have children with special needs, who RELY on these funds, is atrocious! I am Maritza Velasquez, a @globalfundwomen supported activist in Guatemala. For more than 35 years, I have promoted and defended women workers’ rights. . . . I am the daughter of a former union leader who was murdered during the war in my country. For about 4 or 5 years, I had no job because I was strongly discriminated against on account of my union past. This continued until my colleagues from the women’s movement started to support me, and we organized ourselves as a group of labor rights advocates. I started looking for the necessary resources to strengthen ourselves progressively and with the primary purpose of reporting, in particular, employers and companies that violate labor rights.
