(Turn your sound on to hear Momo’s howl!) As some of you know, Momo’s actually the alpha of our pack. We recently took Bear and Momo to the dog park, where Bear met dogs bigger than him for the very first time. Bear was intrigued and started playing with one of them. Momo, not sure of what was going on, came running over to protect Bear 😂

We often get asked how Bear and Momo react when one of our foster dogs leave. It does depend on the dog, but it usually doesn’t affect them too much! Bear has been a foster brother 12 times now, so he’s pretty used to seeing fosters come and go. Momo is more of a softie - with his first few foster siblings, he would whine for a short while after they left. We then came up with a system where we sneak our foster dog out the back so that Momo doesn’t actually see them leaving, which seems to keep him from getting sad. Out of sight, out of mind? 🐶 At the end of the day, Bear and Momo are best friends and will be fine as long as they have each other. Even if one of them is super taken with one of our fosters, they still find the time to play with each other (like in this video). Also, when a foster dog gets adopted, it means another foster friend will be coming soon 🙂

We’re excited to let you all know that our foster dog, Valentina, has found her forever home! Her new home is simply perfect for her and we are incredibly happy for her and her family. Her new brother is a therapy dog, and we hear there’s a good chance she’ll eventually become one as well! Valentina falls in love with every person she meets and we could not think of a better life for her. It truly amazes us how trusting she is of humans despite being treated so poorly in her past. She’s a very special dog! Many tears were shed when we said our goodbyes, but we know Valentina’s in good hands. We wish for nothing but the best for our foster dogs and we’re confident she has found that in her new home. On this day 8 years ago, my whole life changed. I got my first dog. His name was Loki. Loki was perfect to me and I wanted to share him with the world. It turned out that the world thought he was pretty great too 🙂 Loki gave me my love for animals. Because of him, we’ve adopted 2 dogs whom we love very much and fostered 12 others so far. In fact, the crate he arrived in is the same crate we use for our foster dogs. Thank you for everything, Loki. You will forever be the greatest blessing in my life ❤️

2 years ago today, this little guy came into our lives. We were only supposed to foster him for a little while, but it didn’t take long for him to convince us that he belongs in our family forever. Today we celebrate him! Happy Gotcha Day, Momo! ❤️

Momo looking like a third wheel while Bear and Valentina are having a moment 😆 Valentina’s weight loss is going well - thank you all for the helpful tips! As she was likely locked up in a cage for most of her life, her legs get tired easily and she isn’t used to walking very far. She has lost a few pounds so far and is walking (and even jogging!) a bit more each day. It’s a work in progress but we’re very hopeful that she can learn how to be confident and free like all dogs should be!

Bear does the #bottlecapchallenge! (He tried his best ok? 😆)

It’s almost been two years since Bear and Momo met and became brothers. Believe it or not, both of them almost went to other homes! Before we even knew Bear was up for adoption, another family had already been selected to adopt him. They ended up having to move away because of a family emergency, so he had to be re-listed. That’s when we found out about him - we met him and adopted him the next day 🐻 The day Momo came, he actually had an adopter lined up for him. We were supposed to get another dog to foster that day, but it ended up being Momo because the lady who was supposed to adopt him changed her mind at the last minute (she was afraid he would get too big). We fell in love and officially adopted him a month later 🐶 It’s safe to say we’re glad things turned out the way they did ❤️

Valentina (our new foster dog) is getting more and more active and confident each day! She hasn’t taken a liking to walking on a leash yet, but with Bear and Momo’s encouragement, we think she’ll pick it up in no time 💪 See our last post if you haven’t heard Valentina’s story! ❤️

Meet Valentina, Bear and Momo’s new foster sister! She’s a 6-year-old Corgi who was recently rescued from a puppy mill (where she was used as a breeding dog). Despite her past, she is super friendly to every person (and dog) she meets. As she has likely lived in a cage for most of her life, she is very overweight and doesn’t understand how to walk on a leash (she plops down on the grass after a few steps and refuses to get up). While we’re fostering her, our main goal is to help her lose a few pounds and teach her how to stop being so lazy 🐷 (any tips would be appreciated)!

Little-known fact - Bear was given up twice before we adopted him, so we’re actually his third owners. From what we’ve been told, he grew up in Chilliwack - a city 2 hours away from where we live - before he was given up the first time. We got to visit Chilliwack on our recent road trip, so it felt pretty special (although we’re not sure if Bear had any clue we were in his hometown 😆). We don’t know what we did to deserve having Bear in our lives, but we’re thankful for him every day 🐻

Our foster dog, Zeta, has gone to her forever home! We had such a fun few weeks getting to know her and showing her the love she deserves. We sure are going to miss her, but we know she’s going to be super happy in her new home. A big congratulations to Zeta and her new owner! 🎉

BOOP 👆 BOOP 👆 BOOP 👆 Zeta met a potential adopter the other day and it went really well! Her adopter is actually one of you and we’re just so happy we could connect Zeta with her forever home. She only has a few days left with us, so we’re giving her as many treats and belly rubs as she can take! ❤️

Say hello to Zeta, our new foster dog! She’s a 1-year-old Shiba Inu who was abandoned by her owners after she grew out of her puppy looks (some people... 🙄). Zeta is settling in well as we teach her the ways of a house dog (in other words, potty training 💩). As usual, Momo is super curious about his new foster sister and follows her everywhere. Bear is more shy with her, but he’s slowly warming up! ☺️
