home is where the heart is

Today I’ve seen that it’s world mental health day. I find it interesting the amount of days we have and what their particular significance is supposed to celebrate. I also find it interesting that as a society we’ve delegated entire weighted topics like mental health into one day of focus. The truth is that mental health is a long and painful journey. It doesn’t appear in one day or disappear in one; it is gradual, encapsulating, comfortable and destructive. It varies in degrees, it stems from different places, it isn’t just one thing. I feel like mental health is something we all struggle with to some degree. I think it’d be ludicrous to ask us to be ok when we’re surrounded by so much trauma. Our history and continued repitition of it without learning from it, or healing from it has really taken its toll on our souls as a collective. The amount of people who are written prescription pills to fill their voids has numbed and silenced a good amount of the feelers in this world and left most of us wondering wtf is wrong with us. Some of us don’t even acknowledge it and it just sits in our chest, reminding us every once in a while that it’s still there waiting to heal. I mean this for me, I mean this for you, I mean this for us. Whatever way you read it, I guess what I’m saying is, I feel you. I feel how easy it is to lose sight of purpose, to not even really know what that is and feel so scared of figuring it out. I know how easy it is to think of all the things you desperately wish you could change, things you don’t like, reasons why you aren’t enough. It’s easy to give into that voice in the back of your head breaking you down, but the light that comes from finding out that it was just you all along is one that even if it doesn’t stay for long is comforting enough to keep you moving. You are strong because you are here after everything. You are here because you belong here. The space you take up is the space you were given in this spec of a galaxy and you deserve to take it up, feel it up, live it the fuck up. @imansss did a beautiful post today and in it she encouraged us to do this, I’d love to see y’all do it in the comments or posts and tag me(: I love you

I want you all to take a good look at the courageous, eloquent, strong, brilliant, rebellious, enigmatic energy of each youth you just hopefully scrolled through. Take the time to listen to them ALL. Many have been drawn into this fight because of their inability to ignore the effects that the raping of Mother Earth has had on their lives, their families lives and those of the members of their communities. Indigenous, POC, black and brown communities have always been at the forefront, on the frontlines, using their bodies and voices because they do NOT have a choice. They are the first to be forgotten and the first to be targeted in this climate crisis extravaganza. When we listen to all of their stories, we come to draw that the CHILDREN are awake. THESE YOUNG SPIRITS OF TOMORROW ARE LEADING THIS CHARGE. These young women were raised by the strength of their experience and are guided by their ANCESTORS for this work of bringing us all to our knees with shame at what we have made of this beautiful planet and what a chaotic, toxic system we have made life out to be. They are reminding us of the gift of our voice, of the power of our voice. We must acknowledge them, we must LISTEN to them, we must build with them and set our intentions for a future free of the incescent hatred of self and our neighbor. We are ushering in the new currency, the soul currency of love. The type of wealth you can’t account for in your corrupt playbooks and vaults or in your shadow guilt and fear that prevent you from doing anything at all. It is the currency of a free mind, it is the currency of knowledge, it is the currency of freedom and YOU CAN NOT STOP IT so FLOW with it and put respect on the names of ALL the leaders of this movement towards a sustainable future on our home planet, Gaia. @indigenousgoddessgang @israhirsi @tokatawin @thetinydiplomat @xiuhtezcatl @mickey_nadia @littlemissflint @jansikwe @gretathunberg @autumn.peltier

Focusing really whole heartedly on healing this body. Not so it looks good enough for your/tabloid eyes to absorb and have a kinder opinion of it, but for the sheer fact that it is my miraculous home. My soul sits in here; my thoughts, my words, my feelings, my art, my observations, my imperfection all wrapped up and packaged in this particular, unique box. Today I love my body because it loves me so much it can barely breathe sometimes trying to keep up with all the harm I’ve done to it. For all the times I’ve said she wasn’t beautiful ENOUGH and picked at her like if I squeezed hard enough I could make it go away. She was always my greatest miracle. Today I am grateful for this body, the ability to heal it before it’s gets too sick, the ability to watch it flourish with grace at whatever pace she pleases. Thank you for the reminder @rupikaur_ ❤️
