The runner stepped in to his kennel and he was easy to leash and easy to walk to the catch pen. He walked past the other dogs kennels and tried to smell them as he went by. In the catch pen he had soft eyes, a high tail wag, and natural set ears. When he was allowed to enter the play yard he gave good gate greetings to the other dogs through the catch pen fence. He was barking at dogs in the catch pen excitedly greeting them. He took a correction well from a female shepherd for trying to mount her. He was friendly, social and playful in the play yard. Sound on❗️And keep your eyes on the pink umbrella (aka @ubah ) It all started with @nikilovesu & I coming up with silly contemporary dances while away on work trips. @commen_terri would film us, we would use whatever props we would find on set & we would just laugh our butts off. Well... it all led to this moment.. when all the models on the shoot wanted to join in. And for the first time we also had music, #hello by #adele ( Niki & I would always do it without which made it even weirder) We have been watching this video over & over for years now & it still keeps us laughing. Now, it could have ended very badly but @ubah has angels watching over her. @thecorybond was the hero running right up telling her to be perfectly still... can’t believe she escaped without even a scratch. Oh and if u think we added a sound effect we didn’t... that’s how loud it crashed!!!! It took #Coronavirus for Ubah to let me post this, knowing we all need a pick me up! He’s been there - living outside in the extreme heat, cold and rain without proper protection since November of 2018. Yes. That’s what I said. NOVEMBER 2018 (🤯). He’s lucky to have survived. Now it’s his time. THEIR time. FREEDOM IS COMING. If you can spare even $1 towards the $150 transport cost to Los Angeles we’d be so grateful. Each vaccine injection is $21. Dewormer for everyone is $14.50 a pop. Honestly I feel ridiculous even asking for help given all that is happening right now, but I have no choice. This is the good kind of failure #fosterfail . Taber found this guy on the street...dirty, skinny, arthritic & smelling like death from a horrible ear infection. Judging from his ears (cauliflower ears) he’s probably been suffering from these on and off for years. Taber, being who he is, of course swooped him up & took him home. He tried washing him up but realized this guy needed the vet. As all of this is going on, I’m in LA working, & I have to admit that hearing about this dog over the phone got me feeling slightly overwhelmed. We already have 7 dogs, we’ve just moved, we’re in a rental.. is he good with other dogs?, kids? Whaaat?!!! This is too much...We need to find him a home...Of course we will foster him until we do.. etc.. etc. Taber, again being who he is, just told me to calm down. This dog is awesome. He’s a good old boy. Relax girl. And yes, Taber was right. This guy is so sweet & was accepted by our pack right away. He’s old & rickety but still loves a good game of #tugofwar. His back legs give out now & again, but he gets right back up. He’s tough. At one point he was a young, powerful dog. Ahh... & he must have been the cutest puppy. We’ve all fallen for this grandpa, so the fact that we weren’t planning on adding to the pack is out the window. Tomorrow we will road trip to meet them. Currently loading our cars up with additional crates and sitting here giving each other emotional pep talks. Let’s be honest, we really have no idea what we are about to see. . Guys, boarding at our vet is $21 / night. Shelter pups need to be treated with meds for worms, parasites and kennel cough, etc. Microchips and vaccines are also needed as this shelter does not provide them. And of course, SPAY AND NEUTER surgeries. And that’s for a relatively “healthy” pup. As you can see, it all adds up... Grateful for any dollar sent this way for a very special 🎂 rescue mission. Last week we posted about the dog that survived dog fighting today we are sharing a story of the other end of the spectrum, disposable dog society. These are the words of Yanuk’s current foster: Yanuk is a purebred Siberian husky bred in Russia and flown with his sister to California. He had extensive training as a puppy and has been in a few commercials and currently has a role in the new movie Into the Wild, shot two years ago. Yanuk and his sister were abondoned by his family when they moved to Monaco and enrolled their kids in boarding school. During the subsequent year of fostering, he was with a dog walker and Yanuk was hit by a car and broke his left leg front and back. When Yanuk underwent orthopedic surgery, rehabilitation and physical therapy the vets commented on his dignity and gentle nature through the whole ordeal. Wonderful with other animals, a gentle soul. Also great with kids. He is the unhusky- husky. He can hike off leash, and does not try to escape but will respond to his name and return when called. He also has a shorter hair so he sheds much less than the typical husky. One would wonder how come a wonderful dog like Yanuk who has been in commercials and a movie is left without a home. Born in Russia and then brought to LA to be a toy for people that didn’t have enough dignity to find a different forever home for these dogs once they didn’t want them anymore. Animals are family, you don’t do that to your family. So here we are once again trying to pick up the pieces and find a home for a dog that needs it.
