So long ibiza. Another beautiful summer gone. This one was a bit strange, as I knew it would be after losing such a close friend, someone who was such an important part of my love of this island. I still flip back and forth between feeling numb and disconnected and feeling loving and inspired (as P would want ❤️) and all the while there is a backdrop of a world of doom and descent. Complicated. Upsetting. also, and it must be related, it seems there is so little real passion for music lately- not the business of music, not DJing, not profile/content/branding/reach but actual MUSIC. Music not as soundtrack, but center stage. there is politics, and global warming, facial recognition and darkness (mostly real) and there is loads of buisness and logistics and money money money and numbers, but in it all so little optimistic, challenging and exciting music. I heard “fight the power” today from 1989 which changed my life at age 15 and thought where is this now? Is the world too cynical? Have we lost the attention span to hold a song precious for the required time. It might just be me. But even the idea of music being central to our lives seems quaint. Seems romantic. I hope I’m all wrong. I probably am (I assume the 15year olds are making it happen 😉)For my part starting next week I will work on new music for the rest of the year, a new cycle, a new sound, to excite myself and hopefully a few others. To fall in love again. In 2019 I’m aware it’s a exceptionally privileged position to even talk of “falling in love with music” when the world is on fire, but It’s a luxury that should not be wasted. Love T Ps- in a lifetime of trying, that was the first time I ever caught a baby gecko! 🦎

I used to write and just wait for your comment; To hear you say “that’s why I love you t”. To make you laugh. That was the best. It meant something to me because you were the greatest friend ever. there was nobody like you, and there never will be. I respected you and looked up to you and loved you like a brother. You made us all feel bigger, stronger, happier... and when I was by your side I felt protected and understood and loved. I know it was a two way street- we said it all many times (thank god) The ease with which we told each we loved each other, and the fact that YOU of all people saw worth in me, and wanted to be with me.... it filled me with a quiet pride and a confidence that meant so much to me. I feel our friendship traced my path from boy to man. And it was FUN. The cruelest irony is that I never met someone with a greater gift for LIVING. in your orbit we felt MORE ALIVE. Not in some cliched way- but actually like more oxygen was flowing, the air more charged- more possibilities more chaos more joy. there was nowhere I’d rather be. You didn’t hold back, and so we didn’t hold back. And before you knew it it was a whirlwind of love and hugs and food and plans and music and dreams and everything on earth that a beautiful friendship could possibly be- all held together by your energy. no dull moments. Nothing forced. Just this pure, rare, human connection. The freedom of being known for who you really are. Never underestimating each other. Co-conspirators in the long game of life. Of course we didn’t feel we were in a hurry. Why would we? ......
