Suddenly the gallery feels decadent and I want to put on some Bowie! Well, truth is I always want to listen to some Bowie. In this case it's because the next exhibit at @helmelstudios celebrates the outlandish and outrageous with what might seem like all of the glitter used throughout the Glam rock era. Artist @tamieadaya ‘s work is a brilliant representation of the genre’s influence, suspending glitter so precisely, underlining the illusion of cultural themes of the era. Join me Friday as we revel in the fantastic and sophisticated experimentation of GLAM / Confectionary Glitz by Tamie Adaya.

Friday night was world class. @hrnjakart Hrnjak created such a deeply textured series of paintings and photographs. Complex galaxies I simply wanted to eat them all up. I got goosebumps from all the creative energy swimming through the gallery. Thanks to Bosko’s wife @truusonic , @marionpeck and @markryden , @oliviapinupart and Joel, @pietra_wexstun and @stan_ridgway , @garybaseman , @kiiarens and all our friends that came out to support Bosko and what we are building at @helmelstudios . We are changing what people think of Los Angeles. As my dear friend @jonimitchell_official put it - “We are stardust, we are golden.” Come visit and see the tremendous works and feel the magic

It’s all here! I’ve somehow convinced @hrnjakart to reveal a new body of work. He’s been meticulously creating a series of mid-century modern paintings secretly in his studio. Wonderfully familiar, hypnotizing and nuanced. So complex with endless layers, yet he makes it seem effortless. They’re like poems for the eyes. Damn him! I love them all so much. Be sure to come by @helmelstudios on Friday and be enchanted.

I had such a blast working with my dear friend @thatkevinsmith . Of all the characters I’ve been fortunate to portray, this one is pretty high up there! Congrats on the release my friend. Everyone be sure to get out and see Kevin and Jason mewe’s Jay and Silent Bob reboot!!

The strength and courage of indigenous people is one we should all be grateful for. Native Americans have always held a deep respect for the land and for our connection to this planet. Striving to live in harmony and spiritual enlightenment. Taking only what was needed, and to thank every animal, plant or thing that was used. They were conservationists long before this became necessary. I proudly stand shoulder to shoulder with my Native American sisters and brothers. In America, I’ve been adopted by two tribes besides my own, Cherokee. I've also been blessed by two tribes with names and ceremonies in South Africa and an aboriginal family in Australia. I feel so humbled by the recognition offered me by a people who’s abuses are more and more coming to light and we all hold the prayer that the confidence in grace and honorable behavior will hold sway over the greed and corruption that has so long held sway over our better natures. One day, soon, kindness and the gentle reminding mirror that we can all learn and become better from these deeply sophisticated cultures and that future generations will bring us greater compassion and empathy.

I love being able to get a glimpse of the artist's process. The technique, whether its by feel or predetermined composition or plan, are subjected to the concepts of change and transience. Its what elaborates the work. For artists like @hrnjakart , it is an intuitive process. As if the canvas and paint is guiding him where to go. He captures such reverberating energy, building up textures and inherent motion. I just love his work and I can't wait until everyone gets to experience the art. Boy how time flies when you’re having fun. I can barely contain myself with the tremendous response to @helmelstudios . And the upcoming works from @hrnjakart . His ability to work so adeptly in so many different mediums is simply inspired. Through our talks he lifted the veil on a series of abstract works that knocked me off my feet and while talking about bringing these works to light he agreed to create a whole new series of abstract expressionist paintings that remind me of the mid-century modern design I’d see growing up in Southern California. The exhibit opens Oct 18. You won’t want to miss it!

It's been wonderful to see so many people visit and enjoy the gallery the past week. To everyone that missed the opening reception, @ericnashart is going to be back in the gallery on Sunday. They are simply remarkable and you should do yourself a favor and get a glimpse before they go off to happy homes. I can't tell you how inspiring it's been to walk into @helmelstudios each day and study these. Eric's created such a pointed love letter to L.A.

I'd like to thank everyone who took the time to push through the hardhearted Los Angeles roads to enjoy the opening of my @helmelstudios gallery. Friends new and old came to show tremendous support for @ericnashart and his seductively arresting charcoal drawings. The thoughtful conversations, warms laughs and positive energy created a glow rivaling the beams of light stretching out from the Hollywood Bowl. I can't thank Eric enough for sharing his beautiful work and hope that all of you get the chance to see it before it all goes to happy homes.

I'm standing alone here at @helmelstudios , just 24-hours from our inaugural opening of our first bona fide gallery show with @ericnashart , one of the finest LA centric artists. He has a kind of California Noir style that celebrates seemingly simple lines, though reveal an inscrutable resonance. I have enormous respect for him and we are so lucky that he has accepted our invitation. To think where we started, when having this gallery was a dream I had when painting in my backyard. So off to the races we have gone. We have an incredible roster of phenomenal artists, all established, as we want to start by showing LA what they already have, artists who reflect our POV where we are, where the world wide dreams of escaping to or escaping from,….. where do we go from here?

I'm just so happy. We are only 10 days away from opening the doors to @helmelstudios first exhibit. Looking at these works in progress, I'm enveloped in the beautiful balance of deliberate and organic design to art. The feeling isn't new, though when it hits you, you're alive. And the medium can be anything. With films an audience can wonderfully study and deconstruct its concepts, like one would studying art at a museum. The power of art is magical and those that are experimental innovators bless us with a new sense of wisdom. Like @ericnashart . He is debuting all-new charcoal drawings that resonate and arrest the viewer, often times suggesting a memory. They are what great cinema evoke in the viewer. His precise craftsmanship is the result of painstaking effort and intimate relationship with charcoal. And I couldn't be more pleased with our first exhibit, DEEP FOCUS, created by Eric Nash. We've got a private showing next Friday. Don't miss it!

Austin, you are a force of nature. And nature was a force to reckon with. Yet, the brutal heat, did not stop the amazing people at @drafthouse @drafthouseaustin for creating something truly special. From the ghost town screening of Tombstone on Saturday to the military base screening of Top Gun on Sunday, the fans were aces. The freak rain on Saturday din't scare anyone away, it only brought us closer. I had a blast throwing axes, shooting tin cans, even playing volleyball!, Everyone was having a great time without stepping over the line. They left that bit of fun for me. Managed to make time and visit with my dear friend, Barry Tubb, you know... Wolfman. and invited him to join me on-stage to introduce Top Gun. He's a rare man and I believe so much in the work he's doing. To think about it, we were the force to be reckoned with. Everyone has a special place in their heart for Austin, but for me it's never whatever I'm hearing. It's always something else. It usually comes down to quiet moments, from the people. If I had to vote, I would have put Austin up there in the top five of my favorite small towns, besides my home town Santa Fe. Loving open arms for tourists, yet still have their own private culture that's not snobby or kept from tourists, it's just deliciously saved for the true friends of the land, people and spirit. And Austin has music right there in the center of its up front soul. The likes of which only New Orleans and Nashville can boast of. If you have the heavy blues, spend the money and go to Austin and hear some music. It'll work on ya'. I promise.

Valibu friends. Tonight some of my art is being shown at Lumberyard Gallery. in addition to a handful of original works, I collaborated with RISK on some special one of a kinds.

I just got to Austin earlier today and I don’t want to leave. The creative energy felt is like the neon glow bouncing off the trees in the area we are in. It’s so energizing. Made some new friends and we even got to see Jimmie Vaughan, Stevie Rays big brother, tame a jazz box.

If you haven't heard, I've been invited by the good people at @drafthouse to be part of a two-night, once-in-a-lifetime experience with @drafthouseaustin . Kicking off this Sat, with a screening of Tombstone in an old west ghost town and book-ended Sun night with Top Gun screening at Camp Mabry military instillation. And his wife @truusonic , who provided the provocative sounds took it to another dimension. Im so happy to have shared an intimate night with you. There’s been a lot of careful planning and preparing the past year. New films on the horizon - 🔝🔫✌️ And some projects I can’t talk about just yet, though of all the recent announcements, the one I’m most proud of is happening at my small yet mighty @helmelstudios . In just 4 weeks, I’ll be opening the doors to our new gallery. And I’m humbled to have @ericnashart debut with his intensely rich, charcoal drawings. I recently spent some time with him, at his studio out in the desert, during the last full moon of spring. It was an inspirational shot in the arm. His deft eye and talent create scenes that are cinematic in nature and this exhibit is soaked in LA noir. It’s been a true exercise not to share all the the art before it’s time. So get ready, good people. Opening night is Sept 13. More details and photos of his film like works to come!

It's all seemed to happen in a sudden, brilliant, flash. We're in the final stages of completing our gallery, having spent the past year crafting a very diverse and carefully selected gallery program at @helmelstudios . During this process I met @boskohrnjak Known for one style of art, he's been privately tinkering on a new, original series of paintings. I am just so thrilled he's agreed to bless us with. But before you get to see any of that, he's going to visit the studio and share a slideshow of photos from the Salton Sea and ghost towns of mid-century architecture. Areas he's spent considerable time documenting and researching. I was reminded we've gone around the sun 34 times since Real Genius was released. What a ride! The team wants to huddle in the theater here at @helmelstudios to watch it. Who wants to join? I just need to find some popcorn.

It's been a little while. You may have seen or heard some news this past week. To say the least, I've been busy. So many wonderful projects have launched and all the planning and hard work is starting to bloom. It was such a thrill to hear all of the news coming from San Diego Comic Con. I could hear the raucous celebration all the way in NY. It would have been wonderful to be there, though my commitment and dedication to the @twainmania Foundation opened an opportunity to speak at the United Nations, where I was asked to join a group of incredibly smart and caring people to find ways to make this world better. I'm so humbled by the experience and can't thank everyone enough for their generosity and spirit. Still so much more to come. Buckle up!!

In all of my life, all I have ever wanted to do is to use art to educate. As an actor this materializes in the effort to always be entertaining and with flair. Building on that notion, I've always strived to deliver the qualities that my characters had to possess and for a good many, somehow they have lived on. I reckon it is because I have never failed to find a deep and absolutely committed truth that I could believe in and respect. This same dedication is what I have brought to the @twainmania - along with Brad and Dom, who have dedicated their lives to proving there is an inspiration in education that this kind of curriculum will be the litmus test. Last night we got to share our know-how and spirit and plan to prove it right here in Los Angeles, if you give us the chance. Though we can only achieve this nationally, with like-minded believers like you. I can't thank all my friends, who manage to join me, enough. I’d like to acknowledge on this Memorial Day my step father who I loved dearly, William B. Leach who was a proud member of the Air Force and fought in WW2 in the South Pacific. Ironically, from all the way across the country, my father, Eugene D. Kilmer, was conscripted into the Air Force as an officer and also served in the South Pacific.

There’s just no stopping the pure joy and mischief of #banksy he’s such an inspiration and reminder there is always a new way to enjoy What art does and how it does it.

Oh why won’t my United angels write me back?

Staying an extra day to sight see in the greatest capital city on the planet. Not even the madman Napoleon created a city with the genius of the Lincoln memorial lined up with the Washington monument, and they are simply meaningless in photographs compared to being there in person and drinking in the Gettysburg address for example with his imposing sculpture perfectly reflecting his deep and penetrating humility. Our country is a meaningful treasure to inspire the entire planet, e en with the present almost mythic challenges we face today as a nation and around the planet. There will be no monument for this president, I’m guessing. Unless it’s made out of tears and sorrow and a shine of global embarrassment. I can see that. And it’s so hard to believe it’s not over yet.

Couple years ago already, I was privileged to be able to sing YESTERDAY with sir Paul McCartney and the lovely Rita Wilson live on stage for my dear friend Ben Donenberg’s fundraiser for his thriving La Shakespeare company. Rita and her talented husband Tom Hanks, who’s gonna make it just you watch. If he just keeps pluggin’ away he’s gonna make it. I’ve never been wrong about talent and if he keeps his head down and focuses on his strengths, is gonna make it, believe me. You heard it here first... and this sir Paul fellow has some interesting variety here and there. Lacks variety but that doesn’t matter in today’s crowded market, he can make it just bearing down one kind of idea. No need to try and be something you’re not. Sir Paul is a crooner. And lots o folk will love him for being content to just sound a certain way. It worked for Elvis...

Kim Congdon is one of the most hilarious, beautiful, (also very naughty) comedians that are going right now. I think shes is one of the best that are apart of the younger crowd in comedy today! There are so many brilliant and amazing friends of mine in comedy that I would never want to offend like Kristen Wiig , @lisakudrow, and I guess I can't really say that Kate Mckinnon is a friend seeing as we just met but, I told her I loved her and she told me she loved me back...🤷🏼‍♂️ Congrats Kim!
