Going for a morning hike. Been a long time since all 5 of us were in the same vehicle.

Love my bug. She had a blast today. She found a ton of worms and a bunch of cicada shells. I used to find them on the playground in elementary school not 3 miles down the road. I’m glad she’s happy to be outside.

Went out to giant rock a few days ago. Prior to 2000 when a large chunk broke off, this was the largest free-standing boulder in the world. It’s hard to grasp how grand it actually is; roughly 7 stories high and covers over 5800 square feet. Hard to imagine but there was actually a German prospector that burrowed under the rock and built a home under it back around 1930. He even built a small Airstrip right there in the Mojave desert and at one point averaged a plane a day touching down. When WW2 rolled around, there were rumors that he was a German spy. (Which of course he was not) When the authorities came (outside their own jurisdiction)to bring him in for questioning, he went back in to “grab a coat” and barricaded the door. The police tossed tear gas through the window to try and drive him out. The canisters accidentally ignited dynamite inside the home killing the man and injuring officers around. I was told by a fellow history buff that his body was never recovered due to risk of the boulder collapsing. Not sure how true that actually is but it was very interesting to hear.

Had a quick study yesterday morning with Buck before he left for the weekend. We talked about worship and what it is at its core and what it is to be in worship with your whole being instead of just while music is bumpin’. We came across this scripture and it reminded me of a friend’s side project which you should for sure check out. ‘‘Twas a perfect time to read it; almost like God Himself was giving me a New Year’s resolution to work towards. @thenewselfproject Ephesians 4 22) to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, 23) and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, 24) and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness. (As you can see, Buck really likes Ephesians.)

Spending the last day of 2018 with my special lady.

Had a dinner date with my favorite girl. She’s getting so big.

Just finished my last dive for my open water certification and it was the most amazing experience I’ve had in a while. Pictures to follow.

This was my Valentine date tonight. Nice dinner together then fed ducks bread by the pond at STC and walked the bridge. Had so much fun with my beautiful tiny girl!

A year ago tonight, I saw my dad in this room. He wasn’t well and he wasn’t himself. We sat in silence and watched The Golden Girls. We didn’t talk much but a lot was said. Had I known then what I know now, I would have stayed and never left his side. It was the last time I would see him alive. The last time I got to speak face to face. I remember walking out and seeing his face as he said, “I love you”. Almost a year later, I still pick up my phone to call him and remember he’s not there to answer. Sometimes it’s more than I want to deal with. Sometimes I don’t deal with it at all. I’m forgetting his voice and his pictures all seem very different than they did before. It seems that his dog even still expects him to come through the door at anytime. I’d love to see him walk up my driveway and I keep a change of clothes for him in a trunk just in case it’s not real... Because it sure doesn’t seem to be.

Eating on 66 today

For almost 4 years, I’ve worked with one of the most beautiful people I know. She’s incredibly opinionated but not close minded. Extremely hardheaded but the first to admit she’s wrong. (When/if she’s wrong) The two unlikeliest of friends considering we’re completely opposite in pretty much every aspect imaginable. But I couldn’t be more thankful for our friendship. Today was our last day working together as she’s moving on to the next chapter in her career and I couldn’t be happier for her. Wish you the best in your next endeavor. @gigglesburgos

Today is my best friend’s birthday. We’re currently going through premarital counseling to solve the issue of deciding where to eat. Just saying that to remind everyone that I get to marry this fine woman. I love you a ton and plus some. Happy birthday babe.

@johnmayer has been my favorite artist for well over a decade and I’ve been waiting to see him live since I was 11. Tonight I finally got to cross that off the list and it was amazing. Picked up a copy of the set list too from a guy backstage.
